A storefront in the Ukrainian Village, Chicago IL, was home to SpinPoi from 2009 – 2011. Though we no longer physically reside in the area, we still support chi-town’s skill toy community, and provide resources for those looking to take a lesson, book a performance, buy some gear, or attend an event. Chicago Area Performers
The Cobra Cabaret The Cobra Cabaret, based out of Chicago, is a pop-up professional traveling performance group who dances with fire! They will show up at your event and give your audience a show on a stage built on top of the Cobra Bus during spring, summer and fall. We are available during the winter without the Cobra Bus. Environmental Encroachment Chicago performance art group Environmental Encroachment (EE) uses circus theatrics and an artist marching band to create unique entertainment environments. Performances can include costumes, live music, parades, fire spinning, spontaneous appearances, antics, and audience interaction. EE encourages participation, dance, and freeing the spirit. Firefly Performance Troupe Performing in the arts of hoop dance, poi spinning, double staff, fire orb, flow wand, fire fans and fire eating; Firefly embodies moving meditation. Through dance they harness the fierce element of fire in a mesmerizing display. Available for performances (fire as well as LED and daytime shows) and workshops and classes. Full Moon Jam: The Full Moon Fire and Drum jam happens every Full Moon during the summer months, 1/2 mile South of Foster Ave Beach on the Lake Front. Since they began in 2004, the jams have grown in size to accommodate the increasing amount of drummers, fire spinners and families that come to enjoy.. Great opportunity to perform in front of a large crowd and check out what other spinners in the community are up to! GIve Peace A Dance: GPAD is a public non-alcohol conscious-dance celebration. A smaller, more intimate event than the Full Moon Jam, GPAD has indoor space for playing with glow/blacklight skill toys, and an outdoor space for fire spinning. Happens once a month at 1900 W Fulton st. Combustion Thursdays: A once a week practice time for Chicago area spinners. Fire Poi by Zach Stephens: spicymoose@gmail.com Cathedral fold poi head made of alternating folds of 2" wide Kevlar blend tape, for wick longevity, secured with a metal eyebolt. Large ballchain connects the poi head to leather finger straps and allows for several swivel points along the chain which prevents chain kinking. All completely hand made.Wicks burn for approximately 6 - 7 minutes.
